“GAME OF THRONES” GOOF ATTRACTS ATTENTION

LOS ANGELES (AP) — As if the final season of “Game of Thrones” isn’t getting enough attention, a shot of coffee has given fans of the HBO drama a jolt. In this case, the “shot” was of a coffee cup that ended up on a table during a scene in Sunday’s episode. Keen-eyed viewers noticed the takeout cup during a celebration in which the actors were swigging from goblets and horns. The characters Daenerys and Jon did not react to the out-of-place cup — but it seems everyone else did. Some viewers complained someone should have caught the goof. Online wiseacres turned the errant cup into a meme. But HBO seems to be taking it in stride, saying, “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.” The last “Game of Thrones” episode airs May 19.

MEGHAN MARKLE DELIVERS

WINDSOR, England (AP) — Now that the latest royal baby has arrived, the world is waiting to learn his name. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces when he checked in yesterday morning. Once the baby arrived, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bucked royal tradition in a number of ways. They didn’t say where the baby was born — and declined to pose with the infant shortly after the birth. Instead, Prince Harry delivered the news on TV. The ginger-haired prince described himself as “just over the moon” and said his son — or “the little thing,” as he described him — “is absolutely to die for.”

AMY SCHUMER - BABY

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Meghan Markle isn’t the only celebrity celebrating a newborn. Amy Schumer has given birth to her first child. She shared the news on Instagram, with a post showing her, her husband Chris Fischer and their son after the Sunday night delivery. The caption says “10:55 p.m. last night. Our royal baby was born.” Since she revealed her pregnancy, Schumer has had a running gag about the fact that she and Markle were expecting at the same time. Schumer has endured a difficult pregnancy, suffering from a condition that caused her persistent sickness.

JOHN SINGLETON FUNERAL

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ice Cube, Stevie Wonder and Congresswoman Maxine Waters were among those who attended the funeral for John Singleton. The service was held yesterday at a funeral home in South Los Angeles, where the Oscar-nominated director spent part of his childhood and where his career-defining movie, “Boyz N the Hood,” was set. The service lasted about two hours. The media wasn’t allowed inside. Others who were seen paying their respects were “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown, rapper Ludacris, and actors Ving Rhames, Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Taraji P. Henson and Tyrese.

Singleton died late last month after suffering a stroke. He was 51.

GINA RODRIGUEZ IS MARRIED

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The star of “Jane the Virgin” has gotten hitched. Gina Rodriguez tied the knot over the weekend to Jo LoCicero. One of Rodriguez’s co-stars, Justin Baldoni, sang at the service. In an Instagram post, Rodriguez captions a video clip of the wedding with the words, “May 4th, 2019 was absolute MAGIC. To my husband, Joseph, I am yours forever.” The couple met in 2016 — when LoCicero played a stripper on the CW series.

CBS SHAKES UP NEWS LINEUP

UNDATED (AP) — You could say that yesterday, CBS stood for Colossally Big Shakeup. In a series of moves that rocked the news business, the network did some major personnel shuffling. Norah O’Donnell was named the new anchor and managing editor of the “CBS Evening News.” She replaces short-tenured Jeff Glor. And she becomes the third woman ever to serve as solo anchor of an evening newscast, following Diane Sawyer at ABC and Katie Couric at CBS. With O’Donnell’s departure from the CBS morning show, Gayle King will be getting two new co-hosts. Both women shot down reports that they weren’t getting along, noting such observations are rarely made about men in TV news.

TIGER WOODS - WHITE HOUSE

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has awarded golfer Tiger Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. In a ceremony at the White House yesterday, Trump described Woods as a “true legend” and “an extraordinary athlete.” Woods, 43, won his fifth Masters title last month, overcoming personal and professional trials to once more claim the green jacket. Woods became emotional as he spoke of his parents and thanked those who supported him over the years, saying, “You’ve seen the good and bad, the highs and lows, and I would not be in this position without all of your help.”

KENTUCKY DERBY - RATINGS

UNDATED (AP) — An interesting note about TV ratings for this year’s Kentucky Derby: it seems there were more people tuning in to watch the aftermath of the race than there were to watch the actual event. Nielsen reports Saturday’s broadcast averaged 18 million during the race — before spiking to 18.5 million for post-race coverage, when first-place finisher Maximum Security was disqualified for interference. Country House was named the winner.
