Lynx Defeat Fever 66-58

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Katie Smith scored 19 points as the Minnesota Lynx snapped a two-game losing streak with a 66-58 victory Saturday night over the Indiana Fever.

Reserve Coretta Brown had 20 points for Indiana, which came in with a three-game winning streak.

Smith made just five of 13 shots, but converted all eight of her free throws _ including six in the final four minutes.

Indiana’s Tamika Catchings, averaging 18 points, was held to seven on 3-for-10 shooting. She took an elbow to the face with two minutes left in the game and did not return.

Minnesota (5-6) held a 32-26 lead at halftime. The Lynx pushed their lead to 52-39 midway through the second half after Kristi Harrower scored eight of her 10 points during a 12-3 spurt. The Fever (5-4) never got closer than five points the rest of the way, shooting just 38 percent for the game.

The Lynx shot only 34 percent, but made 21 free throws to Indiana’s nine.
