Boyd man charged with creating, distributing child porn

ASHLAND, Ky. — An Ashland man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after filming equipment and files showing child pornography were found at a home.

Chad T. Trusty, 22, is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center on charges related to distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.

At about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Trusty as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation, which began after it was discovered the suspect distributed files of child sexual exploitation online, according to a news release from the KSP.

Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized during the execution of a search warrant at a home in Ashland on Wednesday, and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.

Trusty is currently charged with two counts of promoting the sexual performance by a minor under the age of 18 and one count of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense, according to the KSP.

The promoting of a sexual performance by a minor charge is a Class-C felony punishable by five to 10 years and the distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing.
