Worcester man denies committing 8 bank robberies

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Worcester man authorities say robbed eight banks over several weeks has been held on $25,000 bail.

Prince Dennis was held after pleading not guilty Wednesday to four counts of armed robbery and four counts of unarmed robbery in connection with the robberies from March 12 through May 29 in an around the city.

The 36-year-old Dennis was arrested May 29 after he allegedly robbed the People’s United Bank on Gold Star Boulevard. Undercover officers had staked out several Worcester banks in an effort to catch the person responsible for the robberies.

Prosecutors say about $10,000 taken in the robberies has not been recovered.

The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1jgjywH ) reports that Dennis’ lawyer says his client, although a refugee from Liberia, has strong support from his family living in the area.
