Authorities recover body from Lake Erie in Euclid

EUCLID, Ohio -- Authorities recovered a body from Lake Erie on Monday afternoon in Euclid, police said.

Investigators have not identified the body recovered from the water near Arcadia Beach, Euclid police Lt. Mitch Houser said. The body was pulled from the water sometime in the last hour, Houser said about 2:45 p.m.

It appears the body was in the water for “some time,” Houser said. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the person’s identity, he said.

Investigators could not immediately determine whether any foul play was involved in the person’s death, due to the state of the body, Houser said.

Houser could not immediately provide any additional information about how the body was found. Euclid police and firefighters pulled the body from the water.

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said the agency is not involved in the investigation.
