SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) _ Kareem Reid scored 21 points and led Arkansas’ pressure defense as the No. 12 Razorbacks ended a two-game losing streak by defeating Saint Louis 78-70 Friday for seventh place in the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic.

Arkansas (9-2) was upset in the tournament by American University of Puerto Rico, a Division II team, and Murray State.

Saint Louis (8-4) has lost four consecutive games, although three have been to ranked teams. The Billikens have been beaten by UCLA, Syracuse, Iowa State and Arkansas after winning their first eight games.

With five different players scoring, Arkansas led 12-0 after only 2:41. Saint Louis rallied with a 14-5 spurt to get within 17-14. The Razorbacks led 38-35 at halftime.

Saint Louis scored the first eight points of the second half and surged ahead 43-38 lead with 18:20 to play. Arkansas then went on a 25-11 run to take a 63-54 lead with 6:19 remaining.

Reid made 8-of-15 field goal attempts and 4-of-5 free throws and led both teams with five assists.

Nick Davis had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Razorbacks, while Pat Bradley added 12 points and Tarik Wallace 9.

Larry Hughes led Saint Louis with 20 points, despite playing with a sore shooting wrist. Ryan Luechtefeld had 15 points and Matt Baniak 11.

Arkansas’ trapping defense forced Saint Louis into 26 turnovers, 15 in the first half. The Razorbacks committed 23 turnovers, but offset that with 54 percent shooting (29-of-54). The Billikens shot 40 percent (23-of-57).
