BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (AP) — A man charged with assaulting and severely injuring a 9-month-old baby in Belchertown last year has been ordered held without bail.

Keith Truehart had been on the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted list prior to his capture early Wednesday morning. Police tell the Republican newspaper of Springfield that the 30-year-old Truehart was found hiding in his girlfriend's apartment.

Truehart was arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court on charges of assault and battery on a child and obstruction of justice. He was held pending a dangerousness hearing set for next Tuesday.

Truehart's public defender declined comment.

State police said the baby sustained serious head and facial injuries last November when Truehart had been left alone with the girl. Doctors determined the baby had also previously suffered two fractured ribs.
