Helen Kahn -- Plainview
Helen Marie Kahn, age 88, of Plainview, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
Helen was born Oct. 26, 1930, on the farm in Quincy Township to Richard and Winnie (Ihrke) Bedtka. She attended country school and was active in the Quincy 4-H Ramblers. On Sept. 2, 1948, she married Oral Kahn in St. Charles. The couple lived and farmed briefly in Chatfield, then lived in Plainview, Weaver and Wabasha. Mr. Kahn died May 2, 1991. Helen moved to Plainview two years ago. She was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wabasha.
Helen is survived by her children, Richard (Cynthia) Kahn of St. Charles, Duane (Cindy) Kahn of Minneiska, Darlene (Ralph Jr.) Heaser of Kellogg and Janet Nickelsen of Plainview; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Ann) Kahn, Alisha Kahn, Clinton (Missy) Kahn, Justin (Jennie) Kahn, Colleen (Tony Green) Olson, Jonathan (Sara) Heaser, Curtis Heaser, Holle Heaser, Jeromy (Veronica) Nickelsen and Josh (Rachel) Nickelsen; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; five brothers; and one great-grandson, Carson Nickelsen.
Funeral services is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wabasha with Pastor David Peters officiating. Burial is at Little Valley Cemetery, rural Dover. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
