Boston man acquitted of 2010 killing
BOSTON (AP) — A 23-year-old Boston man has been acquitted at his second trial in a 2010 fatal shooting.
Jurors on Tuesday found Lavonrence Perkins not guilty after deliberating less than one day. The jury at Perkins’ first trial in 2012 was deadlocked.
Perkins had been accused of killing 21-year-old Cordell McAfee in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood in May 2010.
Prosecutors said McAfee was sitting on the porch of a house with a relative when two gunmen in light-colored hooded sweat shirts approached and opened fire. McAfee was shot twice and died of his injuries. A second man on the porch ran away and wasn’t hurt.
