Multiple agencies are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Edinburg this morning, in which a source with knowledge of the matter says there has been one fatality.
The Edinburg police department has thus far only confirmed that there has been a shooting involving an officer, and is expected to release more details at a 3 p.m. news conference today.
Police chief Cesar Torres, who just assumed the role in January, met with officers earlier this morning with regard to the case.
The shooting occurred in the 2900 block of North Pablo Street in Edinburg. Lieutenant Johnny Hernandez, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said the Texas Rangers are the lead investigators in the incident.
