Find out how design affects use of public space

May 16, 2019

A series of presentations and conversations on how art and design can create vibrant public spaces will start Thursday.

Katherine Darnstadt, whose Chicago-based company, Latent Design, is working with RSP Architects as consultants on the Discovery Walk project, will be discussing elements of universal design at noon Thursday in the Castle Community space at 121 N. Broadway Ave.

The presentation will discuss how people of all abilities need to feel a sense of belonging in a place and how design does that through placement of seating, providing space for mobility and offering clarity of functions.

The event is free, but registration is required. To register search www.eventbrite.com for “ Art + Design in Public Space.

Other monthly presentations are planned through October.
