’Tis the season for spectacular looks

December 7, 2018

Holiday parties are upon us and whether you’re at a classy winter soiree or an ugly Christmas sweater party, you want to dress the part. Southeast Texas stylists and boutique owners know exactly what’s in style and how to get the looks everyone will be talking about.

If you’re preparing for a cocktail party, you might as well go all out and have some fun.

“We are seeing lots of glam and sparkly looks this season,” said Ashla Tran from The Purple Door in Beaumont.

Rock the glitz in a sequin dress, like the multicolored number from SassyTrendz Boutique in Nederland. Kimberly Hughes who owns the store says the dress accentuates curves but isn’t tight, so you can still dance and mingle.

If it’s a causal shindig with family and friends you still want to look your best and feel comfy.

“We’re feeling the Christmas Cheer in the Aubrie Button-up Top,” said Daniella Blanco, Co-owner of Blanc Boutique and Salon . The festive red top features a tie-front hem, which Blanco says is one of the most popular trends of the season.

To make a statement with a bold print, try a cape dress designed by Stella Lunik from African World of Fashion in Parkdale Mall.

For those who just can’t take any more holiday shopping crowds, you can always order your outfit online. Opt for bold colors and cut-outs, like the red Memorose dress from Amazon. Try ordering different sizes to ensure a good fit.

If you want to try something different with your hair and makeup, there’s plenty of make up artists and hair stylist in Southeast Texas who will have you looking and feeling great.

“Grey short hair is very in and dimensional color with the balayage technique is super-hot for this season” said Rochelle Perrio Jeane, owner of Strands Hair Spa and Boutique in Port Neches.

Strands offers everything you need to complete your holiday look, or try Thairapy Salon & Spa in Beaumont or Salon Elle in Nederland for a smooth deep conditioned hair look that’s hot this season.

If you’d rather do your own makeup, the pros say this holiday season is all about sparkle, glitter, dazzle, and shine. Scott McClelland, Retail Manager MAC Cosmetics said a bold red lip is also on-trend and festive, and Lotus makeup artist Hannah Callahan said it should be paired with glowing skin.

Kim Davis, Houston movie makeup artist, suggested rocking the red with a shimmery champagne eyeshadow and Grace Mathis with Beauty by Grace said to turn up the glamor.

“Sparkle on the eyes can range from a full-out glitter eyelid, to just a touch of shimmer on the inner eye,” Mathis said. “Or go for this classic combo: a touch of smoky plum or gray in the corners of the eye paired with a true red lip.”

Whatever you decide to wear, be yourself. Remember, there’s a ‘present’ in the way you present yourself.
