Beanbag tourney to raise funds for cancer fight

March 15, 2019

An attempt to stage the world’s largest-ever beanbag tournament — and raise funds to fight cancer — will be held Saturday in Rochester.

The 192-team tournament will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rochester International Event Center, 7333 Airport View Drive SW.

The public is invited to watch the tournament, and to meet Marcus Sherels of the Minnesota Vikings, and American Ninja Warrior Roo Yori. There will also be food and drinks, video games, DJ music and silent auction.

The goal is to raise $100,000 for the Eagles Cancer Telethon. The event is sponsored by the Cabin Fever organization, which has raised $450,000 for cancer research since 2010.

An adjudicator from the Guinness World Records will be on hand at 3 p.m. to verify the tournament as the largest in the world.
