Southern California hospital cleared after gun phone call
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a lengthy search of a Southern California hospital has concluded without finding anyone with a gun.
Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana was locked down Tuesday morning after someone using the hospital’s internal phone system made a call and said they had a gun.
Police were notified at 8:15 a.m. and arriving officers immediately formed teams to search the hospital, which was placed on lockdown.
Santa Ana police Chief David Valentin says a search of the entire facility was completed shortly after 11 a.m. without finding anyone with a gun.
The chief says an investigation into the origin of the call is continuing.
