LOGAN, Utah (AP) _ Patrick Savoy scored 18 points and Reggie Manuel added 17 and grabbed eight rebounds as UNLV defeated Utah State 69-63 Saturday night.

Clayton Johnson added 14 for the Runnin’ Rebels and Kebu Stewart chipped in 12 points as UNLV (5-7 overall, 2-4 in the Big West Conference) halted the Aggies’ win streak at nine games.

USU (12-3, 6-1) was led by Eric Franson with a game-high 21 points, along with nine rebounds, while Silas Mills added 14 points for the Aggies.

The Rebels took control in the first half with a 17-2 run, which was capped by six straight points from Stewart. UNLV led 27-13 with 9:18 before the break.

The Rebels held a 41-31 lead at halftime.

Franson sparked an Aggie comeback, scoring eight points during a 16-3 run that trimmed UNLV’s lead to 61-59 with 3:08 remaining to play.

However, the Rebels scored the next five points to end the threat, and the Aggies went cold from the field, hitting just two more baskets down the stretch.

UNLV kept the Aggies at bay with 50-percent shooting from beyond the 3-point line, with Manuel, Johnson and Savoy each getting a pair of treys.

USU settled for 45 percent shooting overall, and just 23 percent from 3-point land _ where Myron Simms hit just 2-of-11.
