TSA gears up for holiday travel
Brass knuckles. Toy guns. Aerosol hairspray cans. Tools with corkscrews, knives or serrated blades.
Don’t try to take them on an airplane.
That was the message today from Transportation Security Administration officials who held a news conference at Fort Wayne International Airport to outline what’s allowed in carry-on bags : and what isn’t.
A record number of travelers are expected to enter the security screening area at the airport beginning Friday before the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and TSA officials said they want to ensure fliers can move quickly through the process.
“We’re asking people to think about what they have in their bags,” said Mark Howell, a TSA spokesman who works with airports in eight states, including Indiana. “Pay attention to the rules.”
