Eva May Buis

Eva May Buis, 95, of Manteno, passed away Tuesday (March 19, 2019) at Heritage Woods Nursing Home of Manteno.

She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Grant Park, the daughter of William and Martha (Weber) Fick. Eva married Z. James Langlois on June 28, 1947. He preceded her in death in November of 1979. She then married John Buis on July 31, 1993. He preceded her in death in September of 2003.

Eva worked in the Manteno School District cafeterias. She also worked for many years farming with her husband in the Grant Park area. Eva was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved to play Bunco. She was an excellent cook and baker. Eva loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Manteno.

Surviving are one son and two daughters-in-law, Greg and Dawn Langlois, of Manteno, and Marcia Langlois, of Grant Park; four grandchildren, Amber Langlois, Kevin and Tracy Langlois, Tim and Amanda Langlois, and Amy and Greg Schneider; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Z. James Langlois and John Buis, Eva was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Langlois and Terry Langlois; one sister, Lorraine Langhorst; and one brother, Leland Fick.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at St. Joseph Church in Manteno. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Manteno.
