CHADRON, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says an inmate who walked away last year from the Work Ethic Camp in McCook has been arrested in western Nebraska.

The patrol says troopers and officers from the Chardon Police Department arrested 37-year-old Charles Canaday in a Chadron home Wednesday evening. In the process, officers say they found drugs and drug paraphernalia and arrested two other men.

Officials say Canaday was one of two inmates who walked away from the camp last December. At the time of his escape, Canaday was serving a sentence of six to 24 years for burglary, theft, and criminal mischief convictions from four Nebraska counties.
