Mexican police find 5 bodies along Rio Grande
CIUDAD VICTORIA, Mexico (AP) — Mexican police say they have found the bodies of four men and one woman on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande river near Camargo, across the border from Rio Grande City, Texas.
Local investigative police officer Juan Carlos Quintero says preliminary identifications have been made for three of the bodies. Two were Mexicans and one was from El Salvador.
They appear to have drowned in the river. Their bodies were found in the water or close to the river banks on the Mexican side, along a stretch of about 400 meters (yards) from each other.
The area is near an international border bridge.
Migrants frequently try to swim the river to reach the United States.
