Marin Hopper’s Townhouse Robbed
NEW YORK (AP) _ Burglars stole $360,000 worth of jewels and other valuables from the Manhattan townhouse belonging to the daughter of actor Dennis Hopper.
Marin Hopper, a fashion consultant, and her husband, John Antonopoulos, were out of town when the burglary occurred sometime between last Friday and Tuesday, police said. The investigation continued Thursday.
Antonopoulos, 56, discovered the theft Tuesday night after he returned from Europe. Hopper, 38, had gone on to Los Angeles from Europe.
``These very valuable things that are important to my family _ heirlooms _ have been stolen and violated, in such a manner that it’s devastating,″ Antonopoulos told the Daily News.
Police said the townhouse door was open when Antonopoulos arrived home. Antonopoulos speculated that the heist ``had to be an inside job,″ but did not elaborate.
Hopper is the former fashion director for Elle magazine. Her mother is author Brooke Hayward. Her father, Dennis Hopper, has appeared in dozens of films, including ``Apocalypse Now″ and ``Easy Rider.″
