Local Residents Can Enroll In Expedited TSA Screening Program

AVOCA — Local residents will be able to enroll in the Transportation Security Administration’s pre-application program at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport from Oct. 1 through Oct. 5 . The application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll directly in an expedited TSA screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes. Travelers must make an appointment online and pre-enroll by visiting the TSA website. The enrollment center will be located in the airport board room and will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 1 through Oct. 3 and from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5. The application fee is $85 and is good for five years. Applicants must bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status. — CLAYTON OVER
