Man robbed at gunpoint outside Super 8 by Wyndham; two men fight over woman outside Super 8: Brook Park police blotter

Aggravated robbery, Snow Road: A 36-year-old Cleveland man told police he was robbed at gunpoint at about 2:40 a.m. Sept. 2 in the north parking lot of Super 8 by Wyndham, 16644 Snow.

The robber drove into the parking lot in a gray Chevrolet Malibu. He jumped out of the car and demanded money from the victim. The victim threw more than $600 in cash, an iPhone and key fob at the robber and ran. The robber drove away.

Assault, Snow Road: A Lakewood man, 57, called police at about 2 p.m. Sept. 5 and said he was punched four-five times in the face by a 34-year-old Parma man outside Super 8 by Wyndham, 16644 Snow.

The two men had been arguing over a woman. The victim was sitting inside his vehicle at the time of the attack. The Parma man punched the victim through the vehicle’s open driver’s side window.

The victim suffered a minor bruise. The Parma man left the scene after the attack. Prosecutors are reviewing the case for possible criminal charges.

Aggravated menacing, Bowfin Boulevard: A Bowfin man said a neighbor pulled up his shirt and showed a loaded handgun during an argument.

The dispute was over a “no-trespassing” sign one of the men had posted in his yard. The Bowfin man called police about the weapon.

Police found the weapon inside the neighbor’s house. The neighbor, 56, admitted having the weapon, for which he had a permit, inside his waistband during the argument.

The victim didn’t want to press criminal charges against the neighbor. Police advised both men not to speak to each other.  

Theft, Meigs Boulevard: About $3,000 in cash was stolen between Aug. 30-Sept. 1 from a makeup box in a bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry.

Criminal damaging, Fayette Boulevard: Someone threw a rock through the front window of a house at about 11:55 p.m. Sept. 1. No one was hurt. Someone saw a gray Buick or Chevrolet outside the house at the time of the incident.

Theft, Bowfin Boulevard: A GPS and coins were stolen late Aug. 28 or early Aug. 29 from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway.

Theft, Sandhurst Drive: Credit cards and $1,000 in cash were stolen at about 3 p.m. July 15 from a house. Suspects include “female escorts” the victim had invited into his home.

Possession of a controlled substance, Ledgebrook Drive: Police found five pieces of crumpled foil and a rolled-up $1 bill, believed to contain heroin, in the vehicle of a 36-year-old Depew, New York man.

It happened at about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 1. Police had stopped the man’s car because it was suspicious, but they didn’t say why. The man was arrested.

Possession of a controlled substance, Smith Road: Police caught a 26-year-old Brook Park woman in possession of unidentified drugs and drug paraphernalia at about 11:45 a.m. Aug. 24 while she was sitting in her parked vehicle outside Brookgate Shopping Center, 5859 Smith.

The paraphernalia included two pill bottles, a plastic baggie and zipper pouches. The unidentified drugs were in pill form.

Someone had called police about the woman after seeing her drift in and out of consciousness. The woman was taken to a local hospital.

Theft, Brookpark Road:

A guest at America’s Best Value Inn, 14043 Brookpark, called police at about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and said someone had stolen checks, a cell phone and a T-shirt from his hotel room.
