Search underway for missing 8-month-old reported abducted

January 5, 2019

A search is underway for an 8-month-old boy who was reported abducted during an alleged carjacking Friday evening on the West Side.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said a Dodge Dart was taken at 7 p.m. at the Friends Food Mart, 351 Enrique Barrera Parkway.

The boy, King Jay Davila, was in the back seat when a woman entered the driver’s seat and drove away, McManus said.

The father called police, but when they questioned him, his story did not add up, McManus said.

Police did not specify what was odd about the father’s story.

The Dart was found near Rodriguez Park, but the child was not inside.

McManus said King Jay was wearing a blue onesie and has a scratch over his left eye.

Investigators believe the child is in danger because of the way the child went missing.

The father, who was not identified Friday evening, will be facing charges for child abandonment, McManus said.

The woman who entered the vehicle was wearing a gray hoodie.

“If anyone has this child just call 911,” McManus said.
