Five Found Dead at Michigan Home
DALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) _ Five people _ four of them members of the same family _ were found slain at a home. A teen-age relative was being sought today and a second teen, an acquaintance of his, was taken into custody.
Deputies were called shortly before midnight Sunday when the parents of a young woman went to the house in this community north of Muskegon to look for their daughter and found a man’s body in the driveway.
Officers found the other four bodies in the house, two in a small back room off the garage, another in a lower room off the basement and the fourth in an upstairs bathroom.
Investigators took an 18-year-old man into custody and today were searching for the another suspect, also 18, who is thought to be related to four of the victims, Prosecutor Tony Tague said. The young man in custody was found in the woods near the home, Tague said.
``We don’t have a motive at this point,″ he said.
The Muskegon Chronicle quoted a police source as saying the victims were believed to be the young man’s father, a local grade school teacher; mother; brother; and grandfather as well as the woman whose family discovered the first body.
Some of the victims had gunshot wounds, Muskegon County Sheriff’s Detective Dennis Edwards said.
This morning, police had cordoned off access to the slaying scene, located directly across from the Michigan Adventure amusement park. Officers used tracking dogs to search a wooded area around the home.
