Airman based in Arkansas killed while trying to stop robbery
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Authorities in central Arkansas are searching for two people who shot and killed a military serviceman who tried to stop a robbery at a gas station.
North Little Rock police say 23-year-old Shawn Mckeough Jr. was fatally shot Friday night at a gas station in downtown North Little Rock. Police say Mckeough was originally from Westbrook, Maine, and was a senior airman stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville.
Police say two people holding handguns attempted to rob the gas station and shot Mckeough when he tried to stop them. Police have released surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the suspects, both of whom were holding guns and had their faces either partially or fully covered.
Police say a $10,000 reward has been offered in the case.
