Pedestrian Airlifted After Being Hit by Car in Longmont on Saturday
A pedestrian was airlifted to a hospital Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle on Main Street, and police are investigating alcohol or drugs as a possible factor in the crash.
Longmont police Cmdr. Joel Post said the crash happened around 7 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Main Street.
Post said initial reports indicate the pedestrian -- whose name and gender has not been released -- was crossing Main Street when a northbound vehicle struck him or her.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to a Denver-area hospital for treatment.
Post said alcohol or drugs are possible factors. The driver’s name has not yet been released as the case remains under investigation.
Main Street was closed in the area for about three hours Saturday following the crash.
