Cougars-Slicers boys hoops postponed to Dec. 22

The New Prairie at La Porte JV & varsity boys basketball games originally scheduled for Saturday night will now be played on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym.

Slicers grapplers post 4-5 record in invite

La Porte’s wrestling team finished 4-5 in the Harrison Invite in West Lafayette Friday and Saturday. The Slicers’ Noah Perez earned a perfect 9-0 record, and Tyson Nisley finished 8-1. Both of them were weight-class champions. Coaches were pleased with the early-season efforts and are ready to attack the Duneland Athletic Conference opener Wednesday night against Crown Point.

NP wrestling starts year off with win

The New Prairie wrestling team kicked off their 2018-19 season with a 59-21 victory over South Bend Adams Tuesday night.

Cougar girls basketball falls against Bremen

New Prairie’s girls basketball team found themselves down 35-8 at the break and fell against Bremen Tuesday, 64-32.

NP swimming picks up two wins over Plymouth

Erin Johnson (200 free), Savanah Keldsen (diving), Meggan Goldenstern (100 free), the 200 free relay team of Meggan Goldenstern, Harmony Gadacz, Erin Johnson, and Allie Harris, and Harris again (100 breaststroke) all were winners in Tuesday’s girls swim meet for New Prairie in their 94-91 win over Plymouth.

The 200 medley relay team of Wrigley Hemphill, Dalton Thomas, Tommy Eggleston and Mason Young, Luke Papai (200 and 500 free), Neiman Graham (200 IM and 100 breaststroke), Dalton Thomas (50 and 100 free), Young (100 fly), the 200 freestyle relay team of Jake Weinberg, Papai, Hemphill and Dalton Thomas, Hemphill (100 back), and the 400 freestyle relay team of Papai, Eggleston, Chase Brackeen, and Roman Piergalski all won heats in the boys’ 127.5-50.5 victory.

Wolves gymnastics meet change

Michigan City’s gymnastics team will now travel to Valparaiso for a meet on Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.

City boys hoop change

Michigan City boys basketball team has added a home JV-varsity doubleheader on Dec. 8. The junior varsity contest is slated to start at 5:30 p.m.

Glenn wrestling places fourth in super dual

John Glenn’s wrestling team tallied fourth place with a 2-3 record in the Elkhart Central Super Dual Saturday. In the opening round, the Falcons lost a tight dual, 42-36, to South Bend Washington. In Round 2, Glenn routed Bremen 54-21. In the third round, the Falcons fell 42-30 to runner-up Lakeland. Concord was a stiff challenge in Round 4, beating Glenn 42-27. In the final round, the Falcons downed South Bend Clay 48-30. Glenn’s Brandon Becker notched a perfect 5-0 record, and Brody Miskimon, Nathan May and Bryce Smith all went 4-1.
