Claymores 22, Monarchs 9

LONDON (AP) _ Backup quarterback Terry Karg threw for one touchdown and rushed for another as the Scotland Claymores defeated the London Monarchs 22-9 Saturday in the World League of American Football.

The victory broke a six-game losing streak for the Claymores who finished the second half of the season 1-4 and 2-8 overall. London finished 2-3 and 4-6 in front of 11,783.

After the Monarchs were stopped on fourth-and-goal at the 1, Karg led Scotland on a 15-play, 99-yard drive, scoring on a 1-yard sneak to give the Claymores a 7-0 lead in the second quarter.

Karg, who completed 11 of 18 passes for 126 yards, hit Allen DeGraffenreid for a 35-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter to extend the lead to 14-6.

Scotland kicker Sean Conley added field goals of 38 and 32 yards, and the Monarchs conceded a late safety.

Don Silvestri kicked field goals of 39, 32 and 33 yards for London.
