True Cocktails and Bites restaurant-club to host grand opening in Cleveland Flats

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- True Cocktails & Bites is officially open and serving drinks, food and music.

Located in the old Willeyville spot, on the corner of West Tenth Street and Front Avenue, the Flats East Bank bar-restaurant will throw a grand opening party 6-11 p.m. Thursday. It has been in the soft-opening period since August.

True strikes a middle ground somewhere between a club, a restaurant and a bar – a concept that should which should help it in fall and winter, traditionally quieter months for the Flats East Bank.

“Things have changed on the street and you have more people coming looking for something more than dinner in a restaurant,” says Brian Gresham, who owns Take Five Rhythm and Jazz in the Warehouse District and has been brought on to consulting the design and build-out of True. “There are a lot of people looking for a place that has club music, but it isn’t too loud – a place where they can have a good cocktail, some conversion and good food.”

True boasts sleeker décor and lighting than Willeyville, which closed in 2016. It will also roll out an eclectic and varied menu – everything from light salads to a New Orleans BBQ Shrimp plate, a Chickpea Gyro, Fish tacos, duck wings, salmon sliders and a number of flat breads.

“We’ll have gluten-free options and wide drink list and we’ll have DJs” says Gresham. “I know this is a different concept that some people are used to, but the timing is right for something like this... and timing is everything down here in Flats.”
