Jeannette hoping to move playoff game to Hempfield
Pending approval from the Hempfield adminstration on Monday, Jeannette school district could use Spartan Stadium for its WPIAL Class A first-round football playoff game. The game should be played Friday.
Jeannette coach Roy Hall said because of poor playing conditions at McKee Stadium, school officials asked Hempfield if Spartan Stadium is available.
Hempfield athletic director Greg Meisner said in a text message he doesn’t anticipate a problem, but he must confirm things with his adminstration.
The WPIAL football pairings will be held Monday in Green Tree and No. 1 Jeannette, which is expected to be seeded No. 1, is hoping the game can be played on artifical turf.
Jeannette previously moved a playoff game because of poor field conditions. The Jayhawks played South Allegheny in 2012 at Norwin.
Jeannette (10-0) is the defending WPIAL and PIAA Class A champions.
