Greenwich’s “Gas Man” yuks it up in WWE video
GREENWICH — Peter Gasparino knows all about Greenwich, as well as professional wrestling, and he has put his inside knowledge into a new video.
Gasparino talks about “about surviving the mean streets of Greenwich” in a promotion for World Wrestling Entertainment. The video is drawing thousands of viewers on social media.
Gasparino, who was known as “Peter Gas” and “The Gas Man” in his wrestling days, demonstrates how to dress properly in Greenwich to two other wrestlers, Edge and Christian. He also puts them through some dance moves in the two minute video.
Gasparino was a friend and Greenwich High School football teammate of Shane McMahon whose father ran one of the wrestling operation in Stamford, Vince McMahon.
Gasparino co-wrote a book about his career in the ring, “Looking at the Lights: My Path from Wrestling Fan to a Wrestling Heel.” The athlete-entertainer wore sweater vests and khaki trousers in his wrestling matches.
