Politics Doesn’t Belong In Sports, Religion

September 25, 2018

Editor: I think football players have it all wrong. When you take a knee, it shows respect and reverence, not a protest. In church, when we genuflect, we take a knee or just to pray. Soldiers take a knee in front of a fallen brother’s grave to show their respect. When we are brought in front of royalty (like a king or a queen), we would go to a knee with a bowed head. When they raise a fist in the air, it shows a symbol of defiance against the wrongs done in this county. Now that would be so cool, but that’s just me. I am a veteran and I do not believe they are disrespecting the military of the flag. I believe politics doesn’t belong in the NFL, NASCAR, religion, etc. Don’t they have enough on their plate to deal with? Jim “Cowboy” Reimer WILKES-BARRE TWP.
