Police say woman hospitalized after crash was intoxicated
A 32-year-old woman was hospitalized after a rollover crash Tuesday morning on Cerrillos Road that blocked southbound lanes for several hours, according to Santa Fe police.
The driver, identified as Jesica Leach of Santa Fe, was accused by police in a criminal complaint of driving while intoxicated.
The crash was reported about 4:45 a.m. in the 4400 block of Cerrillos Road. The southbound lanes were closed until shortly after 9 a.m., police spokesman Greg Gurulé said.
According to a police report, officers found a green Land Rover on its left side and a female driver inside screaming that her arm was trapped underneath the vehicle. Officers lifted the SUV, and paramedics freed her. She was taken to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.
Police inspecting the Land Rover smelled alcohol and also found drugs inside and what appeared to be a broken bong nearby, according to a police report.
An officer accompanying Leach to the hospital reported that police discovered a marijuana pipe as she was being taken to the emergency room at Christus St. Vincent.
Leach’s arm injury was described as severe and she was later taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, according to the police report.
