MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Richard Hidalgo hit a two-run homer and Jeff Bagwell scored three times Friday night, leading the Houston Astros over the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2.

The NL Central-leading Astros won for the 15th time in 21 games. They took the season series against Milwaukee 7-2.

Sean Bergman (11-6), who had two no-decisions and a loss in his last three starts, allowed seven hits and two runs in 6 2-3 innings.

Jay Powell pitched the final 2 1-3 innings for his fifth save.

Bill Pulsipher (1-1) gave up six hits, five walks and three runs in 5 1-3 innings.

Hidalgo homered in the ninth. His third home run of the season followed a two-out single by Craig Biggio.

The Astros scored a run in the sixth for a 3-1 lead on a single by Tony Eusebio that drove in Bagwell, who singled.

Sean Berry drove in his second run of the game on a fourth-inning single to give the Astros a 2-0 lead. Bagwell walked with two out, advanced to second when Moises Alou walked and scored on Berry’s hit.

Houston took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Berry.

Rookie Geoff Jenkins led off the seventh with a home run to center, his eighth, as Milwaukee narrowed Houston’s lead to 3-2.

An RBI single by Marquis Grissom in the fifth inning pulled the Brewers within 2-1. He drove in pitcher Bill Pulsipher, who singled with two out.

Notes: Pulsipher’s single in the fifth was his first hit since Sept. 1, 1995. ... It took 11 pitches before Fernando Vina, the Brewers’ first batter, finally grounded out to first base. ... Houston leads the league in runs scored 704. ... With the win Houston recorded its 79th victory in 129 games, beating the club record for hitting that mark by eight games.
