December 6, 2018

MOHAVE VALLEY — Maegan Dorris scored 19 points to help lead the Brantford Lady Mustangs over the Needles Lady Mustangs 54-31 in the finals of the River Valley Shootout — it was the Ontario, Canadian squad’s second Shootout title in three years.

“This tournament was tougher, as we played eight games in 32 hours,” said Brantford head coach Ross Enslev by email. “We came with seven players and lost one to injury in game six.

“The hospitality in the community, especially Laughlin where we stayed, was great. People were very complimentary of our team’s unselfish play.”

Dorris hit five 3-pointers in the second half. Taylor Hill scored 15 points and Maddison McGregor added nine for Brantford.

“Needles had a nice half-court offense, with a great post player and two good perimeter shooters,” Enslev said. “Overall, the girls had a great time, made some new friends and showed great physical fitness.”
