Authorities identify man killed by train in South Carolina

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities have identified a man struck and killed by a train in South Carolina.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said in a news release that 27-year-old Anthony John Dempsey of Taylors was walking across the track when he was hit.

Norfolk Southern reported a train hit a man around 9 p.m. Monday.

Dill says Dempsey died at the scene from blunt force injuries.

The coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office are investigating. No one else was hurt.
