N Carolina man accused of impersonating US Marshal

November 13, 2018

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — A man in North Carolina is accused of impersonating a U.S. Marshal with forged credentials and identification of “remarkable quality.”

A U.S. Marshals search warrant application says Michael Robert Kwasniewski later told authorities he bought the items on eBay. The News & Record of Greensboro reports Kwasniewski is charged with impersonating an officer or employee of the U.S. The U.S. Marshals Service was alerted in September that Kwasniewski may be impersonating a deputy marshal.

The November application says Kwasniewski showed local law enforcement what appeared to be authentic U.S. Marshal gear, including a badge, weapons and tactical gear. It says Kwasniewski also received services at a shooting range that were discounted for law enforcement officers. He was arrested and several weapons were seized. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
