Cops: Stamford felon back in jail after firing stolen gun

STAMFORD - Police have arrested a felon on a weapon charges after a shot was fired near the Mystique Night Club early Monday morning.

Lt. Michael Noto said police responded to the Poplar Street club at 1 a.m. Monday on report of a disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and noted that the disturbance had seemed to end, however, during the investigation officers heard a gunshot.

“Officers responded to the area of the gunshot and detained Robert C. Anderson, who was standing near his car and located in the rear passenger seat, a black handgun, “ Noto said.

“Investigation showed that no one was shot during the incident and it is unclear at this time why the gun was shot. However, what is clear is that Anderson is a convicted felon and does not have a permit to carry gun and in fact, the gun was report stolen several years ago.”

Anderson was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a permit, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and theft a firearm.

He was held on a $100,000 bond with a court date of May 17. However, he was sent back to prison for violating his parole.
