ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Antoine Walker scored 33 points and Paul Pierce added 26, leading the Boston Celtics to a 99-89 victory over the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.
Walker, who shot 13-for-29, scored nine points in the fourth quarter, including a basket that pushed the Celtics’ lead to 90-77 with 7:31 left.
Pierce finished with a season-high 12 rebounds. Walker had 11.
Kenny Anderson had 13 points and eight assists, and Eric Williams came off the bench to score 11 for Boston, which seized a 16-15 lead with 4:52 remaining in the first quarter.
Orlando was without Grant Hill, who missed his second game of the season with a a sore left foot. He is day-to-day.
Orlando was 6-for-30 from 3-point range and shot 37.8 percent in the game.
Tracy McGrady scored 22 points for the Magic on 9-for-22 shooting. Mike Miller added 16 points, Pat Garrity 13 and Darrell Armstrong 12 for Orlando, which lost its third straight home game.
A jump shot by Armstrong helped Orlando close within 64-62 with 4:56 remaining in the third quarter. The Celtics closed the period with a 15-9 run and held a 79-71 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Boston led by as many as 13 points in the final period. The Magic never got closer than six.
Walker hit four 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the first half, leading Boston to a 55-47 lead. to a 55-47 lead. Pierce added 15 points in the opening half and the Celtics shot 47.7 percent.
Orlando shot 2-for-13 from beyond the arc in the first half and shot 34.7 percent. McGrady had 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting.
