Norfolk and surrounding communities awarded Community Development Block Grants
NORFOLK - The Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District has recently announced the Community Development Block Grant recipients.
Community Planner Jan Merrill said the City of Norfolk received $460,000 that will be used towards improvements on Braasch Avenue when it gets reconstructed.
Merrill said Norfolk was previously awarded another Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $425,000 to put towards the renovation of the skate park.
She said other towns throughout the district also received money.
“The City of Pierce was awarded $425,000 for downtown revitalization. The City of Wakefield was awarded $385,000 for street improvements and then the City of Wayne is going to do infrastructure improvements for Nebraska Street and they received $475,000 for that.”
Merrill also said Columbus and Fremont each received $475,000 for respective projects they will be working on.
