Outlook: Last season was a rough one for Frame as a rookie head coach, but with a late hot stretch that saw the Tigers win six of their final eight games and the return of seven seniors to this year’s roster, things are looking up for Frame and his guys in their sophomore campaign together. “We really starting clicking toward the end of the year last year,” Frame said after practice Tuesday. “We understand each other a lot better this year. They understand my expectations for them and they understand what it takes to win games now. I think that confidence we have off those games last year will carry over into what we want to do this year, too.” The Tigers may not be among the big names in the ultra-competitve PCC, but they’ll be one of the bigger teams in the conference with five players on the roster standing 6-foot-3 or taller. “It’s something we really lacked last year,” Frame said, mentioning not only the size the Tigers possess this season, but the experience. Only two seniors really played substantial minutes for the Tigers, but Frame fully expects his core five guys of McDougal, Frazier, Brust, Jones and Tucker — all but one of them are seniors — to really carry the load for LaCrosse. “Those guys didn’t really get to experience varsity basketball during their sophomore seasons,” Frame said. ”(Last year) was really their first real taste of it. With that year at the varsity level and that year of experience under our belts, we’re really going to expect those guys to do some big things for us.”
