Aging/Intellectual Disability Workshop Held
The annual Aging/Intellectual Disability Workshop was held on Friday, June 8, at Genetti’s Best Western in Wilkes-Barre. Linda Shumaker, RN-BC, MA a gerontological certified registered nurse and private consultant spoke on the topic of Understanding Aging and Cognitive Changes for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Jeff Dauber of the Alzheimer’s Association also addressed the gathering on the statistics and resources available to this population. The afternoon session included a legal presentation by the certified elder law attorney, Brenda Colbert of Colbert & Grebas, who covered topics including Special Needs Trust, Power of Attorney, and The Able Act. The program concluded with a presentation by David Hag, geriatric care manager/consultant of Pathway Senior Care Associates.
