Greenwich man accused of stealing from Orange store

ORANGE — A Greenwich man was arrested last week and charged with stealing more than $1,000 in merchandise from a Burlington Coat Factory at 80 Boston Post Road.

According to police, on Wednesday, officers responded to the story in regards to a larceny in progress. Police said officers stopped and searched Brandon M. McLaughlin, 25, of Greenwich’s Cos Cob neighborhood. They allegedly found that he had taken $1,078.75 in merchandise without paying for it. Officers also reportedly found that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia and devices used for shoplifting.

Subsequently, he was charged with fifth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer. He is scheduled to appear on these charged Jan. 16. McLaughlin was eventually taken into custody by the Department of Corrections, as its parole unit held an active arrest warrant for him.
