MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ The Minnesota Timberwolves trimmed their active roster to 12 players Thursday, putting three players on the injured list and cutting two on the eve of the regular-season opener.

The Wolves cut Australian 3-point specialist Shane Heal and reserve center Matt Fish, who was brought in last week because of injuries.

Center Paul Grant, the first-round draft pick who has been bothered by a foot sprain, was put on the injured list along with backup point guard Micheal Williams (hamstring) and reserve forward Bill Curley (thigh).

None of them can return before No. 11.
