Gunman Opens Fire in Post Office
MILWAUKEE (AP) _ A gunman opened fire in the city’s main post office early today, striking a worker in the head and wounding two other people before he shot himself. It was not immediately clear whether he was dead.
The gunman, described as an employee, opened fire in a third-floor mail sorting room and a witness told WTMJ-TV she counted 12 shots.
About 1,500 employees, who were in the building a few blocks south of downtown, fled as the shots were fired, witnesses said.
One man was shot in the head and remained inside the building, witnesses said.
A woman was wounded and went to a hospital in a private car before police arrived. Another man was wounded and ran from the building.
