Utah pastors vow to protect worshippers after Texas shooting
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A group of more than a dozen evangelical pastors in Utah say they want to protect their congregations and will learn how to respond to an active shooter.
KUTV-TV reports 17 pastors made the announcement at a meeting Thursday to respond to a shooting last weekend at a Baptist church in Texas that left more than two dozen dead.
The Utah pastors plan to get active shooter training to learn how to respond and use physical hand-to-hand intervention if needed.
Pastor Derek Frilley with the Sandy Ridge Church says every one of the pastors are willing to give their lives on behalf of those who can’t defend themselves.
