More Than $635 Million Saved on Prescriptions by Users of California Rx Card and Nevada Drug Card
ORANGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2018--The California Rx Card and Nevada Drug Card prescription drug assistance programs have saved residents of the two states more than $635 million since the discount cards were launched in 2007 and 2008, through December 31, 2017.
“The no-cost California Rx Card and Nevada Drug Card make it easy for Californians and Nevadans to bring down the cost of their prescription drugs,” said Edward J. Brown III, Vice President of the two programs. “Whether you are uninsured or underinsured, the discount cards can deliver great savings and are accepted by a number of pharmacy locations nationwide.”
“Even those who have insurance may find their out-of-pocket cost is less if they use the discount cards because of the substantial discounts offered through the two programs,” said Suzanne Domoracki, Nevada Drug Card Program Director.
The prescription discount cards are available to any resident, regardless of age or income, and are absolutely free of charge. They offer savings on both brand name and generic medications, with discounts ranging from 30 to 75 percent. The discount cards can be especially useful to individuals who do not qualify for Medicaid and Medicare programs. It can also be used by residents who need prescription drugs not covered by their insurance and when purchasing prescription medications for pets.
“It’s easy to get a discount card by visiting www.californiarxcard.com or www.nevadadrugcard.com,” boasts Brown. “Each card is pre-activated, so residents can use it immediately. Our participating pharmacy directory is outstanding, too. It includes many of the country’s largest retailers, including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Walmart, as well as regional pharmacies like those inside Albertsons, Pavilions, Raley’s, Ralphs, Safeway, Smith’s, and Vons supermarkets. The discount card also offers savings to residents when they’re traveling outside their home state.”
Those who lack Internet access to download a free card can visit their local CVS pharmacy and ask the pharmacy technician or pharmacist to process their prescription through the California Rx Card or Nevada Drug Card program. All prescriptions filled through the program are confidential.
