Undated (AP) _ Purple Mountain, 117 and Richard Migliore, took advantage of his favorite footing, a sloppy, speed-favoring track to race to an easy front- running victory Wednesday in the $40,000 Mad Hatter Handicap for 3-year- olds and up at Belmont Park.

The 4-year-old son of Grey Dawn 2nd-Aldonza opened a long lead, most of which he managed to maintain throughout. He covered a 1 1-16 miles in 1:41 2-5 to reach the wire 12 lengths ahead of Waitlist, 116 and Jorge Velasquez.

It was another 6 1/2 lengths to the favorite, Proof, 122 and Jose Santos.

Barbadian Reef completed the order of finish in the abbreviated field. Purple Mountain earned $24,000, with his second win in six starts this year. He returned $6 and $3.40 and Waitlist $4.40. There was no show betting.

Jockey Brent Bartram pulled away late to bring Call Me Busy ahead by a length in the $7,700 allowance feature for 2-year-old fillies at Ellis Park.

In the 5 1/2 -furlong race, Bartram waited just behind the early pacesetters in the field of seven for a hole to open, and then took the lead to win the race in 1:09.

Runner-up Della Jo led in the final turn, but could not gain a good advantage. She finished two lengths before third place Exuberant Sallee.

Call Me Busy paid $6.40, $4.40 and $4.80. Della Jo returned $3.80 and $3.40, while Exuberant Sallee paid $7.00 to show.

Comforts Of Home battled back to score a head victory in the $17,825 Kissapotamus purse at Hawthorne.

Quaker Type finished second, two lengths ahead of Aunt Sandy, who was co- favored at 5-2 with the winner.

Comforts of Home, ridden by Rick Evans, was timed in 1:12-25 over a fast track and paid $7.80, $4.40 and $2.80.

Quaker Type, a 7-1 shot, paid $5.60 and $3.40. Aunt Sandy paid $2.60 to show.

Heavily favored Epidaurus, ridden by Bill Shoemaker, prevailed after a three-horse stretch duel to win the $25,000 feature race for older horses by a head at Hollywood Park.

Mane Magic, ridden by Alex Solis, finished second a nose in front of My Gallant Game, ridden by Corey Black, in a field of six horses, 3 years old and up.

Epidaurus, who earned 13,750 for the victory, was clocked in 1.09 2-5 for six furlongs over a fast track.

Sent off the odds-on choice, Epidaurus paid $3.60, $3.20 and $2.40. Mane Magic returned $4.40 and $3 and My Gallant Game paid $2.60 to show.
