Crystal Lake police announce traffic details for AJ Freund’s visitation
The Crystal Lake Police Department is warning residents to expect heavy traffic Friday around Davenport Funeral Home during AJ Freund’s public visitation.
The funeral home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Avenue/Route 176, will be open 1 to 8 p.m. for people who want to pay respects to the 5-year-old Crystal Lake child who died in April. A large turnout is expected and overflow parking will be at Willow Creek Community Church, 100 S. Main St., Crystal Lake.
A bus will shuttle attendees to and from the funeral home, according to the boy’s obituary,
“Crystal Lake officers will be on location during the visitation to assist with the large volume of traffic expected in order to ensure the safety of those planning on attending the services and those traveling through the area,” police said in a news release. “The city of Crystal Lake would like to thank the public for its support, patience, and understanding as the community pays their respects to young AJ.”
Police advise those who aren’t attending the visitation to avoid the area during the visitation hours due to traffic concerns.
AJ has been described as a loving, affectionate and outgoing boy who enjoyed playing outside, reading, drawing, doing puzzles and spending time with his little brother.
His parents have been charged with murder in his death.
