20-year-old man sentenced to prison for infant’s death
DENVER (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the death of a Colorado infant.
The Denver Post reported Monday that 3-month-old Leo Garcia died last year after his mother, Samantha Garcia, left him with her boyfriend Isaiah Marquez while she went to get dinner.
Police were called to their home last May and found the Thornton baby unresponsive.
The infant suffered severe head trauma including a skull fracture and brain hemorrhages. He was pronounced dead at North Suburban Medical Center in the Denver area.
The Adams County District Attorney’s Office says Marquez pleaded guilty in May to child abuse causing death.
